Cookie Policy

What this covers

Cookies are small files a website saves on your device. We also use similar technology — your browser's “session storage” and “local storage” — which this policy treats the same way. It covers the Atlas Studios website, Atlas Tools, and the Atlas Tools script that runs on our customers' websites. For how we use personal data more widely, see our Privacy Policy.

Strictly necessary

These make the service work and can't be switched off. UK law doesn't require your consent for them, so there's no banner for these.

Analytics (only if you accept)

A banner on the Atlas Studios website and on Atlas Tools asks first. Analytics and advertising are separate choices, and saying no to either is as easy as saying yes. If you say no, nothing from Google or Meta loads at all. You can change your mind at any time with “Cookie settings” in the footer. We also use Vercel Analytics, which counts visits without cookies.

Advertising (only if you accept)

We advertise on Google and on Meta (Facebook and Instagram). If you accept advertising cookies, their tags measure which of our adverts led someone to sign up to Atlas Tools or start paying, so we can stop spending on adverts that don't work. We don't use them to show you other companies' adverts, and if you say no they never load.

On our customers' websites

The Atlas Tools script sets no cookies on a customer's website and doesn't track you across websites. It keeps a few plain notes in your browser so a pop-up doesn't keep appearing. None contain personal details.

Atlas Tools Heatmaps records anonymous clicks and scrolling without using cookies or storage on your device, and it skips visitors whose browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control.

Our own arcade. The games on the Atlas Studios website save your high scores and the nickname you last used to your browser's local storage (keys beginning atlas_, such as atlas_pilot_name) so they can be shown next time. They stay until you clear your browser data, are never sent to advertisers and aren't used to track you.

Businesses using Atlas Tools control their own websites, and may add other cookies or services of their own. Check each website's own cookie information.

Controlling cookies

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the strictly necessary ones are needed to sign in, so blocking them means you won't be able to use your Atlas Tools account. To opt out of Google Analytics across the web you can use Google's browser add-on.
